Fighting the belief that our children are in constant danger from creeps, kidnapping, germs, grades, flashers, frustration, failure, baby snatchers, bugs, bullies, men, sleepovers and/or the perils of a non-organic grape.
Maybe I am in the minority, but my 7 year old son is perfectly capable of going into the men’s room alone. We started letting him go by himself when he was maybe 5?
I refuse to raise my son to believe that there is a monster out to get him around every turn. We teach him how to trust his instincts and basic “stranger danger”, but I don’t teach him to be afraid of his own shadow!
