Readers — It’s time to play a little guessing game again. A former student at Pleasant Grove High in Alabama suffered a nasty skateboard spill and was bleeding head to toe. He entered the high school hoping to get some medical help. What do you suppose happened next?

I’ll tell you before the end of the night. – L

Hmmm, former student, male, skateboarder, assuming this was during school hours (in decreasing order of my confidence it occurred):

      1) The police were called for a suspicious male.
      2) No medical aid or assistance was rendered “for liability reasons”
      3) The whole school was put on lockdown (officially due to health hazards from the bleeding, in reality because school officials live in fear)
      4) The individual was confined in a room without treatment because “the cops will be here soon”
      5) The individual is being charged with criminal tresspassing, perhaps at the felony level
      6) The injured individual may have been tackled or assaulted by the school resource officer

    2. Papilio on October 15, 2013 5:05 pm

You forget attempted abduction of a student (whichever student) and vandalizing property (those blood stains are so hard to remove from carpet, you know…).

Lenore: the end of the night – is that 6.00?

    3. SKL on October 15, 2013 5:06 pm

Oh wait, you said “former” student. I was going to guess that he got suspended or expelled for skateboarding.

Now a “former” student is clearly a danger to society. How did he get past the metal detectors with all those ball bearings?

    4. Ben on October 15, 2013 5:16 pm

I would offer the guy medical aid, so obviously, the school probably went into lockdown and called the police instead of an ambulance…

    5. CJW on October 15, 2013 5:24 pm

They patched him up, wished him well, and sent him on his way?

    6. Celeste on October 15, 2013 5:25 pm

The school nurse or another school employee with Red Cross training immediately administered emergency first aid treatment while someone in the school’s office called 911 and got an ambulance to the scene promptly to give him more comprehensive care. It’s the only decent thing to do.

    7. North of 49 on October 15, 2013 5:38 pm

      Arrested?

And former doesn’t mean kicked out. It could mean graduated.

    8. QuicoT on October 15, 2013 5:41 pm

I’m going with some variation of “didn’t know the password, wouldn’t be let in the door”…

    9. Tana C on October 15, 2013 5:44 pm

      1) Lockdown.
      2) They didn’t treat his wounds.
      3) The cops came and scared the unsuspecting guy half to death.
      4) The cops displayed enough common sense to let him go and take the school out of lockdown.
      5) The principal banned the guy from school grounds forever. Because he’s so likely to go back there when they were so kind and helpful.
Note: I hope he moves away before he has any kids who might graduate from there since he’s banned forever.

    10. ChristineMM on October 15, 2013 5:48 pm

School admin called the police to report tresspassing with a dangerous weapon (the skateboard) instead of calling the school nurse to check him out or calling 911 for an ambulance.

    11. Anna on October 15, 2013 5:50 pm

      High school.
      Blooding guy. Uhmmmm….
Some students run to him and bite him on the neck?

Lockdown and arrest. I’m not sure for what since he committed no crime but I’m sure they figured out something.

    14. Snow on October 15, 2013 6:16 pm

Either Tana lives in the area or she, like me, cheated and used google to find out. 😉

Given that schools go on lockdown when pirates visit Krispy Kreme, I’m going with school lockdown.

Then alumni student was left to bleed out because he didn’t have the proper paperwork for the nurse.

When police questioned him, he blamed the Let’s Move Stamps for his poor choices in protective wear. They let him off with a warning and put him on the No Tolerance/No Brains List of offenders for life.

    17. Papilio on October 15, 2013 6:29 pm

The teachers turned out to be all vampires (they suck…), so when they saw and, more importantly, smelled all that blood they got hungry and had him for lunch. After that they cleaned the bones and stored the skeleton to use as Halloween decoration.

    18. Rick on October 15, 2013 6:51 pm

He was arrested for criminal trespass. Tasered. Pepper sprayed. Held overnight without medical treatment. Charged with terrorism.

You know, this just reminded me of when a friend and I were out riding our bikes when we were about 12 years old. We were out on a busy road, no sidewalks, about 5 miles from our homes (we were next door neighbors) and my friend suddenly got a massive nose bleed. We happened to be right next to a church that neither of us attended, but we went in looking for a tissue of some sort so she could get cleaned up. The minster was there, saw us, got tissues, put our bikes in his truck and brought us home. We didn’t know him, he didn’t know us. Can you imagine that happening now? This was back in the early 80s.

    20. Shelly Stow on October 15, 2013 7:20 pm

They called the cops and had him arrested.

    21. mystic_eye_cda on October 15, 2013 7:32 pm

I agree they called the cops, didn’t offer any medical aid, and had him charged, and the school went into lockdown.

I just hope, that this isn’t one of the times when the cops shot someone, as that seems to be the theme this month aside from the one guy that was merely mauled by a police dog. I guess they only shoot you if you’re under 30, the guy mauled by the police dog was 70.

I decided to cheat and google, but I didn’t find it, I did find:

He ran into his first love whom he thought was long gone, but she didn’t recognize him until the medics treated him. He swept her off her feet, they married and lived happily ever after.

    27. Louann Nadalini on October 15, 2013 8:18 pm

No one could help because he was not a student and they feared a suit. They had not heard of the “good Samaritan act”. They let a kid lie in pain and blood rather than treat him like they’d want their kid treated for the off chance that he would be allergic to the soap and water they used to clean him up.
      So sad!!

    28. Nic on October 15, 2013 8:21 pm

Wow you’re all making worst first comments, well except Cassie who was very amusing. Lenore you are being very cruel, I hate suspense.

Parents were turned in to child protective services for abuse in the form of neglect and endangerment.

    30. Lae Morae on October 15, 2013 9:05 pm

Oh also, where do you guys live that they have school nurses? Our schools haven;t funded an in school nurse in YEARS, like decades! So good luck getting anyone to treat you from the nurses station.

    31. Kay on October 15, 2013 9:11 pm

I cheated an googled and part was what I expected and part wasn’t. I can’t decide whether to laugh or cry.

    32. Michelle H on October 15, 2013 9:25 pm

I found this story very easily on Google. For those who wish to cheat and see: http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2013/10/injured_skateboarder_seeks_hel.html

    33. Maggie on October 15, 2013 9:27 pm

      I’m adding:

1-Charged with indecent exposure (torn pants) and threatened with being added to the sex offenders list.

2-Psychologist brought in to counsel the kids for possible PTSD.

3-Sued by parents for traumatizing their babies. (Many who were 18 yrs old.)

    34. Jennifer R on October 15, 2013 9:35 pm

He was shot or hauled away by the police is my guess.

    35. Ali on October 15, 2013 9:35 pm

Principal hugs the kid and asks if he’s OK, welcomes him back, and offers up a first aid kit. The principal wants to ensure alumni are treated with due respect after all.

    36. Greg Allan on October 15, 2013 9:59 pm

There is a moral to this story.

Regardless of his need no boy or man should approach any element of our education systems for assistance.

They are not really wanted, nor are they welcome.

    37. J.T. Wenting on October 16, 2013 9:52 am

at a church, yes (and I mean a church, not one of those big donation factories that sprung up since driven by the TV pastors). Almost anywhere else, no.

    38. Papilio on October 16, 2013 1:16 pm

      Thanks, Gary 🙂
I had more ideas later on, but getting out of bed again to post them in the middle of the night is crazy even for me :/

“Wow you’re all making worst first comments, well except Cassie”

Which is why her guess was just as unlikely as mine…

      Bahahaha papilio’s comment…priceless!
