Hi Readers! I am off to Spain for a few days to give a talk in Madrid on Free-Range Kids. Specifically, on how to get kids back outside — a worldwide concern.

In my absence (yes I”m bringing my laptop, but no, I’m not sure I’ll be on it 24/7 like I am here), I’d like to introduce our guest host for the next few days: The Deputy!  She’ll be blogging while I’m trying to figure out how to use Euros in a pay phone.

    Hasta la vista! — Lenore

      Have a great trip!
I’m looking forward to hearing about the free range vs helicopter debate from a Spanish perspective.

I too am interested to hear a perspective from overseas.

Lenore: Pay phone? 6-year-old kids have cell phones in Europe! lol.

      Enjoy!

Blogging from a payphone is not going to be fun. The touch-screens are horrible for typing on. Just use your hotel wireless with your laptop or get a local pre-pay SIM for your phone/laptop.

@pedro homero: Hey neighbour!!! Wonder how many of us Spaniards hang around here. If I can make it to Lenore’s talk, maybe we could get together for a drink or something…
Lenore, I’m trying to get hold of a couple of copies of your book, but I can’t find them anywhere. Would you sign me a t-shirt instead? 😉

      @lola

      ¡Hola Lola!
I’m not Spaniard, i’m Portuguese but, yes, we’re neighbours – i live in Madrid, too!

Where and when will that talk take place? Let’s try that, yeah. Me and the missus are still child-less, but that doesn’t make this subject less important or interesting.

Hey, i found out when this is – it’s gonna be the 28th… but in the morning! I’m working mornings this week, and i will not be able to change it. Damnation! The whole thing stops half an hour before i leave work. :

Anyways, y’all have fun! More info (in spanish) here > http://www.waece.org/contenido/noticia.php?id=1359

@pedro: Thanks for the info. I ´ll try to make it, but I’m not sure I can find a babysitter for the little one at that time. BTW, if you want some first-hand experience in parenting abilities, I can lend you some of my 4 monsters for a couple of days; we could do with some time off 😉

    16. Pedro Homero on October 26, 2009 7:33 am

@ Lola – 4? wow, that’s… a lot! I’m sure you’d love the time off, but i’m not sure we could handle 4 kids like that, ehehe!

Anyways, enjoy the conference if you manage to get there!
